JAKARTA: Perusahaan otomotif Malaysia Proton akan menggunakan produk ban buatan PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk untuk merek mobil Proton Persona mulai kuartal II/2012, menyusul kerjasama strategis yang dibangun kedua belah pihak.Direktur Gajah Tunggal Catharina Widjajamengatakan perusahaan tersebut akan memasok sekitar 20.000 unit ban setiap bulan kepada Proton dengan spesifikasi menyesuaikan kebutuhan perusahaan otomotif tersebut.“Mulai kuartal dua kita pasok untuk Proton Persona. Sebelumnya yang kita pasok kan untuk produk MPV [Multi Purpose Vehicle] Proton Exora,” ujarnya kepada Bisnis disela acara penyerahan bantuan kendaraan transfusi darah kepada Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI), hari ini (07/02).Pasokan ban untuk Proton Exora setiap bulan mencapai 13.000 unit ban. Kerjasama ini ditempuh melalui negosiasi yang telah dilakukan Gajah Tunggal dengan Proton yang sejak akhir tahun lalu.Proton Persona merupakan mobil kelas sedan dengan mesin 1.6L Campro I4.Catharina menjelaskan secara teknologi, Gajah Tunggal telah siap memenuhi pesanan produk ban dari Proton.“Kami tidak perlu investasi baru untuk beli mesin. Mesin kita sudah siap, tinggal kita menyesuaikan spesifikasi yang mereka pesan saja,” jelasnya.Perusahaan ini memang tengah merampungkan ekspansi pabrik yang ditargetkan selesai akhir tahun ini. Setelah rampung, produksi ban radial Gajah Tunggal tahun ini mencapai 45.000 unit setiap hari, sementara ban sepeda motor digenjot hingga 105.000 per hari.Gajah Tunggal mematok pertumbuhan penjualan ban tahun ini berkisar naik 15%--20% dibandingkan dengan tahun lalu atau secara kapasitas mencapai 41,84 juta unit ban. Jobless claims at 9-month low last week WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New claims for unemployment benefits dropped to a nine-month low last week, a government report showed on Thursday, suggesting the labor market recovery was gaining momentum. Initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell 23,000 to a seasonally adjusted 381,000, the Labor Department said, the lowest since late February. The prior week's data was revised up to 404,000 from the previously reported 402,000. The report, coming on the heels of data last week showing a rise in hiring and a sharp drop in the unemployment rate to 8.6 percent in November, pointed to some healing in a sector that has been the Achilles heel of the economy's recovery. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had expected new requests for jobless benefits to rise to 397,000 in the week ended Nov. 12. Claims in the prior week were revised up to 393,000 from an original reading of 390,000. The average of new claims over the past four weeks, meanwhile, dropped by 4,000 to 396,750, also the lowest level since early April. Continuing claims declined by 57,000 to 3.61 million, and a total of 6.77 million people received some kind of state or federal benefit in the week ended Oct. 29.

Kalau merujuk "boom burst cycle"-nya George Soros, rasanya inilah masanya "burst". Ada 2 kejadian yg perlu menjadi perhatian kita bersama : (1) 15 September 2011, Hutang Yunani jatuh tempo lagi. Dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi wilayah Euro hanya 0.2% pada Q2 (Italia : 0.3%, Perancis 0 %, Jerman 0.1% dan Spanyol 0,2%~ padahal unemployment Spanyol 21%), maka tampaknya Yunani sulit terselamatkan lagi karena kesulitan sudah merata di zona Euro. (2) Akhir September 2011, QE3 akan ditempuh lagi oleh USA (a.l Kompas, 5 Sept 2011). US Economy 'Isn't as Weak' as Portrayed: Economist CNBC.com | August 26, 2011 | 01:59 PM EDT The U.S. economy "isn't as weak as it's been portrayed" in the gross domestic product data, John Ryding, chief economist at RDQ Economics, told CNBC Friday. "This morning for example, if you dig into the GDP report there's a pretty healthy gain in profits in the second quarter. And if you look at GDPs from the perspective of incomes it's actually running at 2 percent in the first half of this year, not the 0.7 that was reported." That number squares much more with industrial production and the employment gain we've had, he added. The weekly jobless claims data is the best real-time indicator that Ryding uses. "They have actually been relatively steady throughout the month of August, close to 400,000 ... it's not really signaling stronger job gains but it's not signaling the labor market contracting either." But he noted a key problem with the lack of job creation is that "small businesses haven't been engaged in the recovery in the same way big businesses have." "The small business sector has been largely overlooked by government policies. In fact small business sector, which is primarily taxed under the personal tax-code, has actually been under the threat of higher tax rates down the road," Ryding concluded.

The U.S. central bank promised to keep interest rates near zero until at least mid-2013. Hiring accelerated in July after abruptly slowing in the past two months. However, there are worries that a sharp sell-off in stocks and a nasty fight between Democrats and Republicans over raising the government's debt ceiling could dampen employers' enthusiasm to hire new workers. The continued improvement in the labor market could help to allay fears of a new recession, which have been stoked by the economy's anemic growth pace in the first half of the year.

Bumi's profit may have gained 50 % - Jakarta Post, Saturday, January 21, 2011. JAKARTA : PT Bumi Resources's profit may have risen about 50% last year as the company, Indonesia's biggest coal producer, sold more coal, at higher prices, said Dileep Srivastava, a director. Bumi, based in Jakarta, posted $190.4 million in net income in 2009, Srivastava said in an e-mailed response to query, without providing last year's figure. Profit may have risen to $262.3 million last year, according to the average estimate of 18 analysts in a Bloomberg survey. Flooding in Australia, the world's biggest coal exporter, drove Newcastle prices to be the highest this month in more than two years. Power station coal price from Newcastle, an Asian benchmark, rose for a seventh week, climbing to $138.50 a ton on Jan 14, the highest since September 2008, according to data from Petersfield, England-based IHS McCloskey. " Weather is something that no one can predict", Ari Pitoyo, head of research at PT Mandiri Sekuritas, said by telephone from Jakarta.. " The coal price has climbed much higher than our target of $105 a ton, that for 2011 even if there's a downside in volume," it won't hurt Bumi's earnings very much, he said. The unit of PT Bakrie & Brothers sold a "little over" 60 million metric tons last year at an average $70 a ton compared with 58 million tons at $63 a ton in 2009, Srivastava said. Ini lebih rendah dibandingkan periode tahunan 2.4% yg ternyata lebih besar dari perkiraan ahli ekonomi yang mengharapkan perkembangan GDP tercukur 0,5%. Bernanke mengatakan bank sentral punya senjata cukup untuk menghentak Economy dari kemunduran tajam apapun. "Issue di langkah ini adalah jika kita yang punya alat untuk menolong aktivitas ekonomi dan trhindar dari disinflasi," katanya. makin lama kok kayaknya pesona tlkm makin ilang yah? justru the rising star datang dari grup infra kyk ADHI (dividen gede banget? dgn price 540 dividen 28,25 ; berarti 5%an.. pdhl yg laen rata-rata bluechip 3%an), WIKA (mudah diprediksi kenaikannya, bisnis yg berjalan saat ini belum maksimal, kelihatan kalau manajemennya selalu berusaha menaikkan profit marginnya dengan usaha-usaha lain yg lbh terdiversifikasi, tp tetap fokus sbg pemimpin pasar disektor konstruksi berat). Untuk totl, asal jangan sampai model grup Bhakti aja, keliatannya baik banget, 1 saham dpt 3 saham bonus, ternyata akal2an biar pada saat right-issue bisa kemposin kantong investor. ha ha ha
